Stretching & Exercise…. How important is it?

Ninety five percent (95%) of the time at the end of my treatment I demonstrate one or two relevant exercises and/or stretches to my clients.  Five percent (5%) of the clients actually do them.

The reason why it takes so long for people to recover from injuries is because they don’t take the time to take care to stretch or exercise.

It is so important to take care of yourself and make your health and wellness a number one priority.  If we don’t take time for ourselves we leave ourselves vulnerable to injury.

Several studies have shown that regular exercise and stretching promotes good health and decreases recovery times by as much as forty percent (40%).

The easiest way to explain how stretching works is to think of your muscles like an elastic band.  The more you stretch it out the looser it becomes.  The looser it becomes the more range of motion you will gain.  Muscles work similar to this, only instead of lengthening several times very quickly, hold the stretch for forty five seconds to a minute for the best results, the longer the better.  A stretch can be held up to five minutes if you have the time.

Stretching can be your best friend or your worse enemy.  Either you commit to incorporating some type of stretching or exercise in your daily routine (i.e., first thing in the morning, on your lunch break or before you go to bed) or you will be stuck not being able to stretch at all.
